Aid for Ukraine: Emeritus and iD Tech Provide Scholarships and Raise Funds for Crisis Relief

iD Tech in action

The war in Ukraine has left millions of individuals, families, and children in crisis. Emeritus and iD Tech are determined to help, and through our scholarship programs and ongoing fundraising efforts, we hope to provide critical supplies and resources for Ukrainian communities.

As Ukrainian communities continue to suffer, we feel it is our responsibility as global citizens to step up and do what we can to help. In addition to providing meaningful educational experiences, our team has been proud to match employee donations up to $25,000 to support Ukraine Orphan Rescue Mission, Ukraine Educational and Empowerment Programs, and Ukraine Urgent Medical Support.

To address the disruption of education of Ukrainian children and adults, Emeritus and iD Tech are providing over $300,000 in educational aid for residents of Ukraine, including those who have been internally displaced and millions who are now refugees.

This will fund 100 scholarships for Emeritus mini certificates, short certificates, and professional certificates (initial scholarships are 50% off tuition and may be expanded with additional partners joining the initiative), access to premium Emeritus Insights subscriptions for all scholarship applicants, and 100 full scholarships for iD Tech’s Virtual Tech Camps. We believe that education plays a critical role in recovery and rebuilding.

One of the first Emeritus scholarship recipients received a special scholarship towards Wharton’s CHRO program. In their own words, this is the impact of the program for them and their community.

“The war has displaced millions of Ukrainians. Many of them lost their homes, jobs and prospects for the future. The Chief Human Resources Officer Program will equip me with the knowledge and tools necessary for helping displaced people with finding new jobs, obtaining new skills, realizing their potential in the new cultural and business environments and re-integrating back to Ukraine's post-war economy. “

“As someone who personally experienced the brutality of this war, I understand the trauma many people are carrying with them and the need for an adaptive hiring and career management approach. I feel very strongly that becoming a trained Human Resource officer will empower me to make a real difference on the lives of many displaced Ukrainians who had to flee their homes and will need to adapt to their new circumstances and career path.”

These scholarships also make a difference for kids. One of iD Tech’s scholarship applications was completed by a child’s parent, and they shared their experience with us, "The scholarship will help Tihon focus on positive thinking, learn new skills, meet new kids and do something exciting to stay away from his thoughts about the war and grievances it brought. More importantly, it will give him a chance to become a lifelong learner regardless of the life circumstances and the place he is in."

Over $18,000 in employee donations to date, matched by Emeritus and iD Tech, have further helped the relief effort. Each of these organizations is doing on-the-ground work to get transformational, humanitarian help where it’s needed most. These contributions have made a direct impact on providing shelter and the distribution of essential supplies to some of the most impacted areas in the nation.

This aid has reached some of the nation’s most at-risk places like Iprin and Chernihiv as well as refugee camps in Poland. Among these supplies are headlamps powered by lithium batteries, critical for medical procedures in areas that are under attack. Their efforts so far have rescued 669 orphans in need of shelter and care.
