Sample Schedule

In this course, students will combine their diverse skill sets and ingenuity in this collaborative film production experience. They’ll take the stage as directors, actors, and cinematographers as they work together to create a short film from initial script to final cut in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Here’s a sample of what a week in the course could look like! Please keep in mind that students will progress at varying paces; this is a general outline of key material and the overall student experience.

For their crash course in video production, students will learn how to set up their recording equipment and take turns directing and acting in front of the camera. They’ll cut together their clips in Premiere Pro to make a short introduction video for their team.

Next, students will brainstorm an idea for their collaborative short film project, working together to write a full script and testing it by acting out their scenes off-camera. Then, they’ll jump into After Effects to explore motion graphics techniques that they can implement into their final project.

Lights, camera, action! Students will scout their locations, prep their equipment, and record their scenes. Each student will get the opportunity to be a director, cinematographer, and actor in a scene of their film.

Students will polish their scenes in After Effects with color grading and special effects. Then, they’ll composite all of their work in Premiere Pro, adding sound effects and music to bring it all together.

It’s time to roll out the red carpet! At the end of the week, students will finalize their film, add a credits reel, and showcase all of the hard work they’ve completed as a team. Final films submitted to iD Tech will have the opportunity to be highlighted on our Video Projects YouTube channel.

Portfolio-Boosting Diploma & Transcript

At the conclusion of your child's course, they will receive an official iD Tech diploma and course transcript outlining the skills they learned over the course of the week.
