Python Camp: Code AI Tools

Python is one of a handful of great programming languages for kids, handling everything from web dev and game design to machine learning and AI. Not only is Python versatile and relatively easier to learn - thanks to its simplified syntax and focus on whitespace - it’s one of the most exciting and lucrative 21st century programming languages around.

Python is one of the most widely used programming languages in the world, and experts agree it's the most compatible programming language for machine learning and artificial intelligence. In this course, teens learn Python basics like functions and lists by writing their own scripts. Then they connect a multimodal AI model from OpenAI to their code to build their own AI tools, like a custom chatbot, and evaluate the AI's responses for accuracy and bias. They'll leave with real coding skills and a better understanding of how AI works and how to use it responsibly.

It’s with these families in mind that we’ve adapted the core elements of our flagship camps to an online format with our Virtual Tech Camps. 

Like our on-campus programs, Virtual Tech Camps feature structured small-group sessions led by expert instructors. Each week includes live teaching of our signature, cutting-edge curriculum, plus peer collaboration, social time, and independent project work. To complete the experience, our Virtual Tech Camps incorporate all the magic of summer camp including games, challenges, and legendary iD traditions!

This course is designed for beginner to intermediate students. Our small class size ensures that each student receives individual attention and has the freedom to learn at their own pace.

Yes! Every iD Tech experience contributes toward leveling up along the iD Tech Pathway. This course is worth 625 XP— learn more about the iD Tech Pathway here.

To run this online course with iD Tech, students will need a Mac or Windows computer (no Chromebooks, unless otherwise specified), a webcam, and a stable internet connection with access to Zoom video conferencing. Additional info on course-specific installation requirements will be communicated after registration.

As courses frequently sell out, we recommend registering early to secure your child's spot. You can make unlimited changes with no fees up to 28 days before the start of your session. If you need to cancel before March 1st, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid. If you cancel after March 1st but still 28+ days before your session, you will receive a refund less the additional fees (if applicable) and a $250 cancellation charge per week. Within 28 days of your session start date, changes are subject to a fee, and no refunds are provided for cancellations.
