About This Course

Roblox is one of the fastest-growing game creation platforms on the planet, designed to grow with you as you advance your skills. With its built-in editor, you’ll learn game design fundamentals and build your own 3D world full of engaging obstacle courses, fire-spawning platforms, and sculpted landscapes.

As you develop your skills, you’ll dive into Lua coding and start building more advanced mechanics for your players to interact with. Earn the fastest score in your obby, and you can even put your name at the top of a custom leaderboard! Then, you’ll learn how to implement monetization so you can sell your custom scripts and products to other game designers.

Publish, share, and play your game with friends on any platform, from the web to mobile—or even virtual reality!

In this course you will:

  • Create and publish games to the Roblox website
  • Implement level design fundamentals
  • Learn how to build and monetize items
  • Add custom Lua scripts to create checkpoints and a leaderboard

Sample Schedule

Begin with the basics of sculpting your own terrain with Roblox’s built-in tools. You’ll construct an obstacle course (“obby”) with an introduction to Lua scripts, implementing moving platforms and save checkpoints for your players. Then, learn how to add in-game monetization options like donation boxes.

Put your game design skills to the test as you begin to build out your own scripts with Lua code. You’ll learn how to create advanced features including fire-spawning platforms, monetized speed boost pickups, and an in-game leaderboard. Publish your game with your team or as a solo developer, and unleash your creation onto the world!
