About the Boston Area

Boston is one of America's oldest cities, incorporated as a town in 1630 and as a city in 1822. The area is regarded as the cultural and economic hotspot of New England, and is renowed for its vibrant, diverse neighborhoods, some of which include Allston, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Brighton, Chinatown, Downtown, Hyde Park, Mission Hill, North End, and Roxbury. Downtown Boston, the most bustling area, is home to countless restaurants, shops, music venues, theaters, and more. Famous theaters include the Boston Opera House, Orpheum Theater, as well as many others. In addition to its lively modern culture, Boston also encompasses a vast variety of historical monuments sure to engage and impress any United States history buff. As you walk through the city, you'll enjoy the magnitude of architectural styles that span across centuries, from Georgian and Federal, to Greek and Gothic Revival, to Italiante and Romanesque Revival, to Victorian, Colonial, and Tudor.
