Code.org reports that while over 50% of the U.S. population is female, women make up only 12% of computer science undergrads. Alexa Café—named after iD Tech co-founder Alexa Ingram-Cauchi—was designed to address this pervasive gender gap by providing a space that empowers girls to innovate and create change within STEM fields and beyond.
About Tech Camps Held at Palo Alto HS
We have chosen Palo Alto High School to host our Palo Alto summer camps for girls because of its academic prestige and centralized Silicon Valley location. Founded in 1898, this public comprehensive school is situated in close proximity to Stanford University and is home to nearly 2,000 students, referred to as the "Vikings." Alumni include big names like James Franco (actor), Joan Baez (folk musician), The Donnas (punk band), Jeremy Lin (professional basketball player), Ollie Johnston (animator of Disney's Snow White), and many more. Palo Alto High School is also known for its strong baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball programs. Come explore campus with us!
