About the Palo Alto Area
Palo Alto plays a large part in the formation of California's Silicon Valley, hosting the headquarters of a number of major high-tech companies including HP, Tesla, and others; while also being an incubator to the world's most recognized social network, Facebook, the prominent Apple Inc., search engine giant Google, and more. Palo Alto translates into "tall stick" and is named after the coast redwood El Palo Alto, which is typically found along the San Francisquito Creek. And let's not forget Palo Alto's place among iD's lineup of summer camp locations - the city's Stanford University is our largest camp to date! Many iD Tech Camps students travel from all over the country to spend time on Stanford's prestigious campus. Locally, campers from Atherton, Burlingame, Cupertino, Hillsborough, Los Altos, and Menlo Park attend our Palo Alto summer computer camps.
