About the Tempe Area

Tempe is home to Arizona State University's largest campus, hosting over 50,000 undergraduate students. Combined, all of ASU's campuses make the largest public university in the nation based on enrollment. Located in Maricopa County, Arizona—and part of the metropolitan Phoenix area—the city is named for the "Vale of Tempe," a gorge in northern Thessaly Greece. (According to Greek poets, this was one of Apollo's favorite hangouts.)

Two Fortune 500 companies, US Airways and Insight Enterprises, have established their headquarters in Tempe. The city played regular host to college football's Fiesta Bowl before the game relocated to University of Phoenix Stadium. Many iD Tech Camps students from surrounding Arizona cities like Chandler, Gilbert, Paradise Valley, and nearby Scottsdale attend our Tempe summer computer camps.

Looking for something fun to do while the kids are at camp? Our Tempe summer programs are minutes from the city's top attractions. Happy exploring!
