Health & Safety Coordinator

The Health & Safety Coordinator will foster a safe and secure camp environment acting as the Camp Health Officer and Risk Manager of the camp. Duties include storing, handling and administering all student medications, as well as performing routine camper health assessments and maintaining the first-aid station. In addition, the Health and Safety Coordinator will ensure proper supervision ratios, assess risk in camp activities, and take necessary safety precautions.


  • Attend in person and online Regional Staff Trainings
  • Attend weekend onsite orientation session
  • Complete ALL paperwork and training requirements
  • May be required to be fingerprinted (based on location)
  • May be required to obtain additional health and safety certifications (based on location)


  • Supervise all students and maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with location set-up, tear down and product inventory/assessment - ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Execute an organized camper medication check-in and check-out each week
  • Administer all camper medications with 100% accuracy
  • Maintain accurate, up to date medications and health log
  • Respond to and document critical incidents - have good hearing & eyesight, mobility, be able to operate emergency exits
  • Ensure appropriate supervision ratios are maintained
  • Apply behavior management techniques to enforce rules and safety regulations
  • Escort students to and from dining halls - traveling up to 1 mile
  • Be continuously available to staff and students while on duty
  • Perform CPR and FIRST AID
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned by your Director or Location Manager


The ideal candidate would have an education in health, nursing, medical and/or risk management. Health & Safety Coordinators must have strong organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively via email, cell phone, and hand-written documents. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Google Suite (google docs). In addition, the candidate would also have a background working with kids and teens. The ideal candidate would have a college degree in a related field. Must hold Pediatric & Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certifications in order to be eligible to work in this position. Some jurisdictions require Health & Safety Coordinators to be at least 21 years old (by the start of camp).
