Coding: Scratch and VEX Virtual Robotics
Scratch, developed by MIT, is the gold standard for learning to code! This software helps teach the core concepts of computational thinking while taking away the pressure of intimidating grammar and syntax. Using the streamlined visual programming blocks, you’ll learn all about sprites, creating custom costumes, and animating with code.
As you grow your skillset, you’ll explore how to define the execution order of your code using coordinated events, conditional checks, and control loops. Then, you’ll dive into more advanced topics, such as using variables to track player game data.
You’ll expand upon your new knowledge by incorporating the VEX VR coding environment, which uses the same visual programming system as Scratch to provide sensor input data and control of the drivetrain for your very own virtual robot. Combine all of your coding knowledge to program your robot to complete tasks autonomously without any additional guidance!

-Mac, Windows PC, or Chromebook only
-Visual coding environment is online
-Webcam
-Stable internet connection with access to Zoom Video Conferencing
