From coding the next must-have app or game, to unlocking the inner workings of machine learning and AI, teens can boost their college applications by moving beyond the standard computer science curriculum. These courses allow students to dig into higher-level technical concepts and showcase a deeper passion for tech on their resume, helping them stand out in the applicant pool.

The classes offer teens the opportunity to discover a world of possibilities:

Each of these courses taps into high-growth markets that consistently rank among the top STEM careers. And upon successfully demonstrating concept mastery and creating relevant course projects, teens can earn a portfolio-enhancing certificate of completion that will highlight their technical expertise in college applications and beyond.

In two-hour sessions over the course of three weeks, teens will access exclusive content delivered in partnership with Penn and participate in live sessions with iD Tech’s rockstar instructors. Plus, they’ll have the option to attend weekly office hours, and social gatherings.

Let’s dive into each of these exciting new course offerings!

Python Coding: Machine Learning and Data Science with Penn School of Arts & Sciences

Not only is Python one of the most in-demand, highly lucrative coding languages today, it goes hand in hand with machine learning and data science. These fields are among the most exciting and fast-growing in STEM.

And with valuable skills in hand, teens will be ready to open a world of possibilities for their futures! No matter what their goals are, there’s no denying they will have a myriad of exciting options in data science, machine learning, and other fields.

With an average annual salary of $100,560, data science is accelerating both in types of job opportunities and overall demand. Since 2012, the field has experienced a 650% growth spurt, and it’s still growing.

Careers as data scientists, machine learning engineers, infrastructure architects and more await those with these valuable skills. Plus, the US Department of Labor reports that by 2028, over 546,200 coding jobs will be added to the economy, and with Python leading the pack, students will have skills sought after by colleges and employers alike.

In this course, students will develop the foundational coding skills necessary to delve deeper into machine learning and data science applications. As they explore, they will build on the essentials to use technology like TensorFlow and machine learning models to recognize images and handwriting. And to put it all together, teens will create a unique project of their own!
