When COVID hit in March, I'd say most of us were of the mindset of: let's get through the rest of this school year, then let's tolerate a socially distant summer if we must, and when the time comes, we'll be ready to get back to normal for the next school year.
Well, here we are.
In-person school attendance is being pushed back for a number of districts, and it's clear that even when kids do return to the classroom, the new learning environment will take some getting used to.
With it all, it’s anyone’s guess as to how long it will be before student life is once again “normal.”
This prolonged uncertainty and disruption requires kids and teens to adapt to new learning scenarios, which means valuable knowledge might be left vulnerable, and important skills potentially left behind when all is said and done.
In a recently conducted survey among parents with students who attended a virtual summer program or one of our Online Private Lessons, we found that 62% of parents with a student in an online or hybrid program for their everyday schooling say their child’s experience is lacking individualized attention; and that 52% of students are bored...
Two factors that greatly hamper the ability to learn and retain skills.
So, not one to idly stand by, we are excited to announce the launch of online private math tutoring as part of our popular Online Private Lessons—live, one-on-one remote instruction customized to students’ interests, skill levels, and goals.
Sessions are led by subject-matter experts who serve as personable mentors as much as they do teachers, and include:
- Pre-algebra tutoring
- Algebra I tutoring
- Algebra II tutoring
- Geometry tutoring online
- Pre-calculus tutoring
- Calculus tutoring
- Trigonometry tutoring
- Statistics tutoring
We revolutionized summer back in 1999 by blending fun STEM learning with the traditional camp experience. When COVID arrived, we did it again by bringing that entire experience online through virtual camp and Online Private Lessons.
Both the in-person and virtual programs have been tremendously successful given the sheer need for quality STEM education, yes, but also because the programs provided new and dynamic learning experiences that were also relevant and personal in nature.
So, when it comes to making math fun, why not us?
So now, in light of the recent educational landscape, we are bolstering the “M” in our popular STEM offerings with new online math tutoring that puts an engaging new spin on algebra, geometry, calculus, and more.
The same energy and personalized approach iD Tech is known for is out to disrupt the traditional definition of tutoring, and give parents and students what they need in order to get help with math, or to push themselves further ahead in its many subjects.
“No matter the skill level of the student, it's important to make it fun and tailored to them as an individual. Tougher concepts shouldn't equal less fun!” said Ash S., an Online Private Lesson instructor. “I am always on my toes and learning how to help incorporate different aspects of their lives into their work, and it helps keep my imagination flowing!”
Why it matters
Many students don't love math—but why not?
Kids probably weren’t thrilled with the idea of coding either, that is, until it's made fun and engaging! The secret is to connect it to things they already like and enjoy, and then customize the delivery of it all so it carries personal significance.
And that’s our goal here—to ensure that students don’t just go through the motions to earn a passing grade in their math courses, but to help them really latch on to math as an interest and something they look forward to.
A proven recipe
iD Tech has spent over 20 years curating life-changing learning experiences for kids and teens, with virtual and in-person programs designed for long-term mastery.
Going back again to our proven approach that combines relevant and much needed STEM offerings with live lessons from tech rockstar instructors - and accounting for today’s new educational challenges - we are once again mentoring students toward pre-collegiate excellence and beyond.
