Rejoice, Apple fans! Today marks the unveiling of the new iOS 8, dubbed "the world's most advanced operating system" by its creators. iOS 8 is now officially out for developers and will be available as an update for all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users this Fall. So, where lies the magic?
According to Apple, "It’s the details. The innovations. The complete experience. It’s the fact that you can now see (and edit and organize) every photo you take on all your devices. That you can add your voice right in a text message. And that your health and fitness apps can now communicate with each other, with your trainer, and even with your doctor."
Intrigued? We've broken down the top 10 ways iOS 8 will blow your mind:
1. Photo Cloud
Every photo you take and every edit you make will now be stored in your Photo Cloud, which can be accessed from any of your Apple devices. You'll also enjoy a powerful new photo editor so you can coolify your pics on the go.
Got multiple Apple devices? Now you can start an email on your Mac and seamlessly finish it on your iPhone or iPad. Also, iPhone users can now answer phone calls on their Mac or iPad, as well as send text messages from any device.
This predictive texting feature will learn your typing quirks and suggest personalized auto-complete words and phrases. Cool!
Never wonder "did I close the garage door!?!?" again. HomeKit allows you to connect, control, and monitor lights, locks, doors, thermostats, and more, for added peace-of-mind.
5. Health App
The new Health app pulls data from different health-related apps and manages it all in one place. It creates a comprehensive profile for you, allowing you to send health info to doctors at select hospitals.
6. Family Sharing
Up to six family members can share their iTunes purchases across different devices. Now you and your sibling don't have to buy separate copies of the new Bieber album (not!).
7. Interactive Notifications
This new feature lets you reply to texts, Tweets, Facebook posts, and more, without switching out of whatever app you're currently using. You can respond via voice recording, photo, or video.
The system reads your fingerprints for added security. Cool, but...a little disconcerting? Don't worry--Apple claims that your prints will NOT be stored anywhere but on your own device.
9. New Messages App
Now with the ability to leave irrelevant group conversation threads! Woot!
10. Better Siri with Shazam Integration
Siri can now spring into action just by the sound of your voice--no need to touch the screen. With the help of the Shazam app, she's also equipped to tell you what song you're listening to.
