VEX® Robotics Design System | easyC | ROBOTC
Prerequisite: Ability to work in teams
Use the VEX® Robotics Design System to build a frame and base, interchange wheels, create geared armatures and engineer wiring. Your team’s bot will have to adapt to compete in user-piloted challenges such as robo-soccer and obstacle courses, as well as autonomous robot challenges that will require programming using easyC software and ROBOTC.
Please note: Many of the activities and challenges are team-based to simulate real-world robotics challenges.
Our summer robotics camps for kids and teens are all about the bots. Working in small teams, students use the VEX® Robotics Design System to compete in fun real-world challenges like robo-soccer, obstacle courses, capture-the-flag, tag, maze solving, and much more! The VEX® Robotics Design System is both user-friendly and powerful, and it’s the same system used in major regional and national robotics competitions, as well as in many high school and university-level robotics classes.
Use the VEX® Robotics Design System to build a frame and base, interchange wheels, create geared armatures, and engineer wiring. Your team’s bot will have to adapt to compete in user-piloted challenges such as robo-soccer and obstacle courses, as well as autonomous robot challenges that will require programmed instructions created on a PC. Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team’s robot will have to morph to compete. Advanced students will have the opportunity to learn about building complex robotic sensors, advanced robot arms, drive trains, and programming “smarter” robots.
This season we have new kits and a more advanced parts inventory, including treads, sensors, and accessories to help take your skills to the next level. Robotics engineering is the main portion of this summer camp, but each student will be given a brief introduction to the easyC programming language. Finally, students will take home and upload a video of the week’s battles, competitions, and collaborative teambuilding events, all put together by their instructor. Roll up your sleeves, brainstorm with your team, and get your hands dirty building robots at our summer robotics camps.
At iD, balance is very important. Our tech camps are fun and engaging, and completely unlike school. We want you to develop genuine passion for STEM subjects, and keep coming back year after year. If it’s not fun—and if you don’t learn a lot—we know you won’t return. You can expect roughly 5 hours a day of instruction, with plenty of time for supervised breaks, social time, outdoor play, optional sports, video games, and other creative techtivities.
