LEARNING

  • 8:1 Ratio Guarantee: We do it differently—this isn’t school. We guarantee 8 students per instructor for personalized learning. Every time.
  • Personalized Instruction: Your path, at your pace. Most of our courses are beginner through advanced. If a course has prerequisites, you’ll be notified during registration. You’ll be immersed in a blended learning environment using our iD Game Plan 2.0 engine, along with one-on-one instruction from our team of educators. Our approach allows you to learn at an appropriate, customized pace.
  • Project-Based Curriculum: At iD, you learn by doing—it’s hands-on. You’ll work with industry-standard hardware and software, complete a final project, create an online portfolio, and bring your new tech knowledge into the real world.

FACULTY

  • Adult-Only Instructors: We don’t cut corners by hiring Counselors-in-Training. Instead, we employ energetic, tech-savvy, adult-only instructors to teach our courses and supervise our kids and teens. We recruit from thousands of candidates, and select from the best. It doesn’t hurt that we’ve been named a Top Workplace 4 years in a row, and that we have the reputation as the #1 Tech Camp on the planet. The top talent works at iD.
  • Best of the Best: Many iD instructors are students or graduates of prestigious universities like Stanford, MIT, Princeton, and Yale. Some are industry professionals. Others began as iD students and have returned to give back to the next generation of innovators!

MEALS

  • A Taste of College: We eat right in the university dining halls! (If the dining hall is closed, we will bring in catered meals or eat in the University food court). Meal plans are available for Day Campers and Overnight Campers. The food is generally good at most campuses. More and more campuses are paying attention to important details like organic and sustainably-farmed food sources, kosher and vegetarian options, and a variety of overall healthier options.

SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT

  • American Camp Association® Accreditation: iD Tech is Accredited by the Southern California Region of the ACA—and we spread those best practices to each of our programs across the country. Being ACA Accredited means we have met over 300 health and safety requirements.
  • Background Checks: We conduct criminal background checks, sexual offender background checks, multiple reference checks and identification checks on all summer staff members.
  • CPR & First-Aid: All program locations are staffed with CPR Certified Directors and instructors.
  • Risk Management Training: Our staff members attend in-person risk management training, and our content is updated every year as conditions change.

TESTIMONIALS FROM iD FILM ACADEMY HELD AT YALE UNIVERSITY

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

“iD Tech serves as a fertile ‘safe place” for my son to explore his creative limits whereas he might not be so adventurous while in his traditional school or at home. I enjoy observing his “glow” after completing a week or two of camp. This is his third year with iD Tech, and I firmly believe it is one of the best investments I have made for my child and his future.” -Marc M., Parent, UC Berkeley iD Film Academy

“Loved the positive upbeat energy shared by campers and staff alike!” -Lee F., Parent, UC Berkeley iD Film Academy

WHAT ACADEMY STUDENTS ARE SAYING

“Before I joined iD Film Studios 101, film was always an individual task for me. But after I enrolling in this class, I learned the importance of teamwork and helping each other out to produce the best documentaries possible. Big thanks to iD Film Academy for giving me this opportunity.” -Daniel F., Student, UC Berkeley iD Film Academy

“Being in this tech environment has helped me expand my views on the film industry and get a hold of what truly happens when a film is being made, and all the hard work that goes along with it. Also, it helped me overcome barriers during projects and aways keep moving forward. In the end, most of the time, I was surprised with my achievement. Along with that, visiting Sandbox Studios and having people from Tongal coming in to speak was very insightful and inspirational. Overall, iD Tech was a sharpening experience.”  -Ana S., Student, UC Berkeley iD Film Academy

“The camp was very fun and I didn’t expect it to be as fun as it was. I’m very glad that I came to iD tech camp. I learned a lot of new effects and I now know much more than I ever thought I would.” -Dani B., Student, UC Berkeley iD Film Academy

Please see our current Promotions.

A thoughtful cancellation policy? Really?

We know plans change. You can register now, and make as many changes as you like (courses, locations, dates, etc.) without and fees or penalties. We only ask that you try to not make changes 3 weeks from the start of your session—there is a $35 fee within the 3-week window. When you enroll, there is a non-refundable deposit of $250 per week. Should you need to cancel, you can transfer your registration to a family member or friend. Balance payments, less the non-refundable $250 deposit, are refundable up to three weeks prior to the start of your session. No refunds will be issued for cancellations or withdrawals within three weeks of the start of your session. If you need to cancel, we ask that you go online to My Account to cancel your session, or send us an email to info@iDTech.com. For more details, please see our Terms & Conditions.

Does my student need to have a high computer IQ?

No. Most courses are for beginner to advanced students. Because of our small ratios, instructors work with students one-on-one to personalize the curriculum. For courses that do contain prerequisites, we’ll notify you during the registration process so you don’t accidentally enroll a beginner student in an advanced course.

Should my student bring a personal laptop to camp?

Students do not need to bring laptops to camp. We provide a computer for each student to use for the week. All materials necessary for the course will be provided.

Do you offer any other teen programs?

We also offer weeklong courses for teens at iD Tech Camps (ages 7-17). Courses and activities are divided into teen courses and pre-teen courses. In some cases, teens and pre-teens will study in the same lab (but will not be mixed in the same class). Other iD Tech Academies for teens include iD Game Design & Development Academy, and iD Programming Academy. We aim to strike the right balance of independence, but rest assured—students will be supervised at all times. Teens enjoy extra privileges appropriate for their environment and maturity levels, including computer gaming tournaments. (Jump to all Teen Programs)
