With popular libraries like PyGame, MatPlotLib, and Numpy, you’ll build logic games, solve artificial intelligence puzzles, and even explore creating a simple neural network. With all of this experience, you’ll be prepared for wherever your computer science career takes you, from software engineering to machine learning!

Topics Covered

  • Learn the fundamentals of Python coding to build object-oriented architectures and design algorithms.
  • Utilize emerging AI technologies to design a customized chatbot.
  • Explore machine-learning concepts to build a basic neural network.
  • Gain coding and computational thinking skills

Python Camp Format

This Python camp is part of a weeklong summer course running Monday through Friday. Learning sessions will be held in a lab on an inspiring university campus. Your child will be placed within a small group and guided by an experienced instructor. Daily schedules are balanced and allow for outdoor and recreational activities. Day and overnight options are available based on location.

Sample Schedule

Here’s a sample of what a week in this Python summer camp could look like. Keep in mind students will progress at varying paces, and this is meant to serve as an outline of key materials and the overall experience.

Explore Python fundamentals through an introduction to variables, conditional statements, loops, and more. Students will explore coding logic-based applications such as Mad Lib story with the option to program a Guess the Number game or a Fortune Teller game.

Building on their knowledge, students will delve deeper into Python programming and explore the basics of machine learning and neural networks using TensorFlow.

Utilizing their advanced coding and computational thinking skills, students will begin exploring advancing AI technologies with OpenAI, such as ChatGPT. Students will build a customized AI-based chatbot system.

Next, students will learn how to create personalized AI assistants to perform everyday tasks. Students will design a dataset and apply the concepts of thread messages and data retrieval with artificial intelligence.

To wrap up the week, students will learn how to use artificial intelligence to generate text and transcribe audio files. In addition, students will finish out strong with a solid understanding of Python programming, machine learning concepts, and new AI technologies.

Portfolio-Boosting Diploma & Transcript

At the conclusion of your Python camp, they will receive an official iD Tech diploma and course transcript outlining the skills they learned over the course of the week.

FAQ

Machine learning is an application of Artificial Intelligence where we give machines access to data and let them use that data to learn for themselves. It's basically getting a computer to perform a task without explicitly being programmed to do so. Machine Learning is used to find solutions to various challenges that arise across a variety of different scenarios and environments!

While we are a tech program with the goal of transforming your child’s interests into real-world STEM skills, we are also a Python summer camp. Simply put, camp is a balance of learning and fun! Students learn in small groups in labs on a prestigious college campus and from expert instructors who are trained to inspire and engage.

Day camps kick off with icebreakers and team-building before jumping into coursework for most of the morning. When it’s time for lunch, your child will walk from the computer lab to the dining hall as they take in the beauty of campus. Students return to the learning labs in the afternoon for more coursework, followed by an afternoon break where they will have the chance to take part in outdoor game time and more campus discovery before wrapping up with instruction!

Overnighters work until dinner, and are then off to create deeper connections and memories while gaming, watching movies, and more. All together, days and nights are filled with learning and adventure that builds lifelong friendships.

Yes, this course is designed for beginner to advanced students. Our small class size ensures that each student receives individual attention and has the freedom to learn at their own pace. Instructors are trained to be in tune with students’ unique needs and provide a personalized learning experience.

In addition to valuable tech skills, kids and teens leave camp with new relationships, resilience, critical thinking opportunities, and an even greater love for tech (if that’s possible!).

At the conclusion of your child's course, they will receive a transcript outlining everything they learned over the week. They’ll also take home an iD Tech t-shirt, water bottle, and a USB with their course project files, along with access to installation and setup guides so they can continue working at their own pace.

Yes! You can register today for as little as $250 per student, and pay the balance in convenient monthly installments. You can save $50 by registering for multiple sessions, and you can earn $25 in credit for each new friend referral (your friend saves $25 when they sign up too!).

As courses frequently sell out, we recommend registering early to secure your child’s spot. You can make unlimited changes - with no fees - up to 14 days before the start of your session. If you need to cancel, you will receive a refund of the amount paid, less the payment plan fee (if applicable) and the deposit of $250 per week. No refunds are provided for cancellations made within 14 days of the start of your session.

If your child will be bringing a phone to camp, they’ll be able to access their device to update you on their adventures and take selfies with their new friends during break times.

While many kids can’t stop talking about their days at camp, others are kids of few words. Our camp staff are here to help, taking pictures of campers in action! Our photos page is regularly updated to showcase all of the fun taking place at camp.

During our Friday Family Showcase, loved ones get to see their camper’s final project while interacting with camp staff and learning about the week, skills gained, and more.

With online options including virtual camps, teen academies, and private lessons, there is a program that fits your child’s interest, skill level, goals, and importantly, schedule. Inspiring instructors, customized curriculum, and topics your child can’t get enough of—sound familiar? Everything there is to love about our in-person Python summer camps, taught online, live by our elite instructors. Learn more
